Our Foundation

Engineered From Experience

SHO Custom Crawlers was founded in 2013 by engineers who had spent their careers diagnosing the same pattern: organizations investing enormous sums in technology infrastructure that was assembled rather than designed. Servers purchased on vendor recommendation without capacity modeling. Networks configured ad-hoc without threat modeling. Security controls bolted on after incidents — reactive, incomplete, and expensive.

We reject that approach entirely. Every system we touch is engineered from first principles: requirements are documented, constraints are modeled, designs are peer-reviewed, configurations are validated, and the final system is accompanied by formal documentation that any competent engineer can use to operate it independently.

Our office at 5584 W 720 S in Hurricane, Utah positions us to serve organizations across the Intermountain West and nationwide. From regional manufacturing operations to multi-state professional services firms to technology companies scaling infrastructure for growth — our clients share one trait: they refuse to treat critical infrastructure as anything less than an engineering discipline.

Mission and Vision

Mission: To engineer computer systems that organizations can depend on absolutely — systems architected with discipline, implemented with precision, and operated with confidence. We exist because the gap between what technology can deliver and what most organizations actually experience is unacceptably wide, and that gap is almost always an engineering problem.

Vision: A technology services industry where systems design is recognized and practiced as a first-class engineering discipline — governed by standards, driven by methodology, and measured by results rather than activity. We want every organization, regardless of size, to have access to systems engineering of the caliber that powers the most demanding infrastructure environments.

Guiding Principles

These are not aspirational statements. They are the criteria by which we evaluate every deliverable before it reaches a client.

Technical Precision

Every architectural decision is accompanied by documented rationale. Configurations are validated in staging before production. We do not guess, and we do not ship anything we cannot defend in a technical review.

Radical Transparency

Project status is communicated truthfully — including setbacks, risks, and unknowns. Clients deserve accurate information to make sound decisions, not optimistic narratives designed to avoid uncomfortable conversations.

Client Enablement

We design systems clients can own and operate independently. Knowledge transfer is a formal deliverable with its own milestones and acceptance criteria. A system that requires the original vendor for every change is a design failure.

Security by Design

Security requirements are addressed in the architecture phase, not retrofitted after deployment. Threat models inform design decisions. Controls are tested, not assumed.

Continuous Improvement

Post-engagement retrospectives are mandatory. We study what worked, what surprised us, and what we would do differently. Every engagement makes the next one sharper.
